Annie Leibovitz (Black & White)

Annie Leibovitz is a strong, artistic woman who has made an impact on her life by following what she loves to do best. Photography. Born in Waterbury, Connecticut, she is the third of six siblings. Marilyn, her mother, was a modern dance instructor of Jewish heritage. Her father, Sam, was a great lieutenant colonel in the U.S. Air Force. Annie began taking her photo's first when her father was stationed in the Philippines, during the Vietnam War. In high school, she became interested in various artistic endeavors, and began to write and play music. She attended the San Francisco Art Institute, where she studied painting. For several years, she continued to develop her photography skills while working various jobs, including a stint on a kibbutz in Amir, Israel, for several months in 1969.

This picture really stood out to me from the dark blacks on the clothing and shadows, to the white champagne and white clothing. It is a great photo because of how it shows the importance of the occasion, and the emotion between the two.

The blacks and whites have a smooth contrast, as well flows great into one another. The great detail on the mans face and hands makes it so you can tell the age within him.

This one stands out with the black & white, inverse, patterns on her shirt and the background behind her. Her make up and roots of her hair makes the top of her hair stand out, including her face with the great lighting.

When I look at this picture, I almost feel a non-emotional state, almost emptiness/sadness and the pose helps his expression stand out as well.
